The case for repurposing

Repurposing works, but it rests on one assumption

The case for repurposing is real and worth saying plainly before we complicate it, because three reasons come up again and again and all three hold up.

01

Reach past the long form

A clip finds the people who'll watch thirty seconds but would never sit through the full session, which means new audiences from an asset you already have.

02

More from what you made

One recording atomised into dozens of pieces is about the closest thing marketing has to found money, since you only paid to produce it once.

03

Repetition that lands

Almost nobody acts on the first pass, so the same point made again in a new place is what finally moves someone to look.

The assumption

Produced and distributed are not the same verb.

Every one of those wins hides the same quiet assumption, which is that the repurposed piece actually reaches someone new. The clip still has to be posted and it still has to be seen, and that's the step the category leaves to you and prices last.

ProducedYou already paid to make it. This part is done.
DistributedLeft to you, and the one step the category prices last.
Starting from agreement

You already turned the webinar into clips

Most pages in this category open by telling you your content is going to waste, and we'll skip that because it doesn't describe you. You already record the long form and you already cut it into clips, the same as almost everyone does now.

The one thing we will not claim

So we're not going to tell you that you're wasting your content.

You already did that work and the numbers say almost everyone has, which leaves the one question this whole category keeps skipping: after all those clips were made, who actually saw them?

The job, defined

What a content repurposing agency does, and where most of them stop

Repurposing in plain terms, plus the exact line most agencies never cross.

Content repurposing takes long-form material a company already produced and rebuilds it into shorter formats for other channels. The usual inputs are a webinar, a podcast episode, a conference talk, a product demo, a customer interview or an internal all-hands, and for video the output is a set of short vertical clips, each 12 to 35 seconds, reframed to 9:16 and captioned with the hook in the first one to two seconds, cut for LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and X.

Most content repurposing agencies stop at the file. They deliver the clips and you post them to accounts you already own, which caps the reach of all that work at the audience that already knows you.

A smaller number handle distribution too, though that word gets used loosely around here. For most agencies it means publishing to your own channels on a schedule, while for us it means the clips are posted natively by a network of 62,900+ independent creators from their own accounts, to audiences you don't have.

What the category charges

What content repurposing costs, and what every price actually buys

There are five ways this category charges and no competitor lays them side by side: per-asset fees, credit packs, monthly retainers, software subscriptions, and one that only exists here, a custom CPM on verified views. Every figure is read straight off that company's own site.

Production versus distribution

Repurposing is a production answer to a distribution problem

Repurposing made sense when making the clips was the hard part. That stopped being true. AI made production cheap and fast, and the real constraint moved to whether the work is ever seen, including clipping the product itself. The category is still selling a fix for the old bottleneck.

The network

Let's concede the whole first half here. Your editor can make the clips and so can a fifteen-dollar tool, because we don't sell clip production. What no editor and no subscription can hand you is other people's audiences, and that's the only thing this network exists to provide.

How a view gets verified

What counts as a verified view, and what we reject

We're the only model on this page priced on views, which makes us the only one that actually has to define one. So here's the whole method, including the part that works against us.

01
The conflict, said first

We're paid per verified view, which means we have every incentive not to look too hard at whether a view was real. We're naming that before you do, because the rest of this section only counts if it answers it.

02
What a view even is

Left to the platforms a view is close to meaningless, since each one counts it differently and most of them count it early.

TikTok & Instagram Reelscount the moment playback starts
YouTube Shortsno minimum watch time since 31 Mar 2025
The paid-media standard (MRC)50% of the pixels in view for two seconds
A Lumina verified viewchecked at the strict end, near the MRC line, not a tap
03
How we check it

Every view is checked against the platform's own API before it counts toward a campaign, and any view that fails the check isn't billed.

04
What you get back

A report of what was counted and what was thrown out, with rejections itemised rather than summarised.

What you actually get

A tool gives you files and an agency gives you more files

Four ways to turn one recording into clips: a self-serve tool, an in-house hire, a traditional content repurposing company, and this. The same pattern holds whether you are doing developer marketing or selling to a boardroom. The first three hand you a file. Only one of them posts it to an audience you do not already have.

Questions, answered straight

What people ask before they send us the first recording

Pricing, platforms, ownership and where a content repurposing agency stops. Every answer stands on its own.

What is a content repurposing agency?

A content repurposing agency takes long-form material a company already produced, like a webinar, podcast episode, conference talk or product demo, and rebuilds it into shorter formats. For video that means cutting the recording into dozens of short vertical clips of 12 to 35 seconds, captioned and reframed for a feed. Most agencies then deliver those clips to the client, who posts them.

How much does a content repurposing agency cost?

Published prices run from $299 per month for a productised clip service to $8,499 per month for a full retainer, with agency retainers commonly quoted at $3,000 to $8,000 per month, and self-serve AI clipping tools starting at $15 per month. Every one of those prices buys production, while we price on a custom CPM per 1,000 verified views with campaigns from $5,000 to $200,000+.

Is content repurposing worth it if we already make clips?

That depends entirely on whether the clips are being seen. Wistia's State of Video research found almost 90% of teams already reuse webinar content and over half already repurpose video into social clips, so making the clips is rarely the constraint. The constraint is distribution, because clips posted to a company's own accounts only reach the audience that already follows it.

Can an AI clipping tool replace a content repurposing agency?

For producing clips, largely yes, and from $15 per month. For distribution, no, because a tool cuts a recording and publishes to accounts the customer already owns, so reach is still capped by the audience they already had. The difference isn't editing quality, it's whose feed the clip lands in.

Do repurposed clips get penalised by platforms for unoriginal content?

They can. Instagram's originality rules, introduced for reels in April 2024 and extended to photos and carousels in April 2026, stop accounts that primarily post unoriginal content from appearing in recommendations to new audiences, and Instagram states that adding a border, watermark, subtitles or a credit doesn't make a repost original. YouTube's July 2025 monetisation update made repetitive or mass-produced content ineligible for monetisation. So clips distributed across a creator network have to be differentiated per creator rather than duplicated.

How does a content repurposing agency verify that views are real?

Every view should be checked through platform APIs before it counts toward a campaign, with failed views never billed, and this matters legally as much as commercially. The FTC's Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465, effective 21 October 2024, makes it unlawful to purchase or procure fake indicators of social media influence, including views generated by bots or hijacked accounts, that the buyer knew or should have known to be fake.

What does a SaaS company need to have before it can start repurposing content?

One source asset over roughly twenty minutes is enough. A webinar, a podcast episode, a conference talk, a product demo or an internal all-hands all work, and it can be a recording you made last year. Getting it to us takes about five minutes.

Whose accounts do repurposed clips get posted on?

With most agencies it's the client's own accounts. With us, clips are posted natively by a network of 62,900+ independent creators from their own accounts, to audiences the client doesn't have. They're organic posts on real accounts rather than paid placements, and they stay live after a campaign ends.

Should we hire a freelancer instead of a content repurposing agency?

For editing, a freelancer is a reasonable answer and often a cheaper one. For distribution it isn't an answer at all, because a freelance editor produces clips you then have to place, which leaves you exactly where you started, posting to accounts you already own. Content 10x's published FAQ shows this is the most common question in the category and every agency answers it on editing capacity, but the honest answer is that the real choice is files versus reach.

Who owns the clips, and what happens when a campaign ends?

Who owns the clip, the licence the creator holds and whether posts stay live after the engagement ends are all set out in your agreement and confirmed on the scoping call before anything starts.

How long does content repurposing take?

Clips go live 24 to 72 hours from the strategy call. Four competitors publish a single turnaround figure while this model has two clocks, one to clips and one to views.

Who is content repurposing wrong for?

Companies that need assets for their own channels and nothing else are better served by a production agency or a clipping tool, since both are cheaper for that job. This model only makes sense if the goal is reach beyond an audience you already have.
